Yoga Today June 19, 2007
Posted by balbert UncategorizedBack to yoga today at work. Had a good class. It was hard and hot in the room but we did some great core work. The lifting I did yesterday made some stuff harder then usual but good to stretch things out.
Tomorrow, shoulder work and a run.

Well the shoes felt fine, but we’ll see how they go for Wed and Friday before making a final decision.
Monday’s run was easy as most mondays are. Seems like the first day back after the weekend is the easiest for me where my Wed and Friday runs are harder.

New Shoes, New Start June 17, 2007
Posted by balbert RunPapa got a new pair of shoes…. seems fitting to start a new fitness blog, with a new pair of running shoes. I’ve been running on the same pair of “walking + light running” shoes (Ecco Receptor) for the last year and a half. I know that you are supposed to replace your shoes at least once a year so I guess I was due.
They were good shoes, actually great shoes. They helped me loose 20lbs and took me through the Haleakala crater on Maui. But it was time to move on and get serious about running with a new pair of good running shoes.
After watching the very entertaining Fremont Solstice parade, I “ran” over to Super Jock and Jill’s to get fitted for a new pair. Everyone that I know says that they are THE place to get shoes and I’d have to agree.
The salesman, a nice young fellow (”what a drag it is getting old…”), took the time to watch me run and evaluated my style to fit me with the right type of shoe.
After trying 4 pairs and running around the corner and up the hill multiple times, I finally settled on a pair - Mizuno Wave Alchamy 6. They felt the best, but i have to say it was hard to really tell which were the best.
The nice thing about Super Jock and Jill is that they will take the shoes back for exchange if after a couple of weeks and a few runs, they don’t feel right or just don’t work for me. So tomorrow, i’ll take my first 2 mile run and see what happens.
I’ve been doing about 6 miles a week, running 2 miles every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I’ve decided to up my training and get serious again. I’m going to try to ramp up my weight training again and start on the Sweat365 5k training program. And also get serious about my Yoga again - making sure I go every Tues and Thurs and Sat.
